Maya, Rebecca and Alain

I arrive at my friends’ place on a Sunday and Rebecca invites me in to this old home where they have made (literally and figuratively) a sanctuary of warmth, comfort and good energy.  Young Maya is keenly aware of energy and emotions and she responds to them, so no faking it around her!   …. and there is no faking or pretense going on here.

I feel my own emotions being tugged as I watch this family being together and we talk about life, parenting philosophy, motivation, travel, wine, work and enjoyment.

After studying and working in human development for years, I expect Rebecca would have a sophisticated understanding and knowledge of attitudes, motivation, learning and emotional openness.  What I see is not just an awareness or knowledge though.  They are actually living it.  They are a close, connected family and they’re happy together.  Alain and Rebecca radiate their pride in Maya.  Things take 2nd or 3rd place to relationships here.

If you start life as someone special – and you’re surrounded with love, wisdom and a deep, abiding belief that you are a wonderful creature – where does that lead?  .  … I am so looking forward to seeing where it leads Maya.  Early bets in my book are on Maya developing a sense of easy self-assurance –> something I admire in both Alain and Rebecca.

Rebecca and Alain, thank you very much for inviting me to see and capture you just being yourselves.  It’s moving to see your attitude and priorities about life, your warm hearted approach and how personable you both are.  Here are some of my favourites from your session:

Lifestyle photography sessions in Kitchener and Waterloo.
If you want to keep it real, this is the perfect photography choice for you. Family portraits, childhood photos, engagement photos, beauty photography and character photo sessions. I capture you or your children in your home, doing your own thing; being yourself.
What do you love to do together at home? Play? Read? Cook? Sing and dance and chase each other? Those are the wonderful, natural portraits I most want to capture of you. No problems with the winter weather; I come to you. You are in your comfort zone. I’d love to hear from you about what a lifestyle photography session would be for you. Give me a call at 519 589 1723 to tell me about your session.

Mary Beth and Brad engaged

They first met 5 years ago at the Flying Dog.  That led to some dating followed by a short break.

…….years later they met again,   …… at the Flying Dog,  ……. on the same date they 1st met.  I love it when life is so emphatic about the hints and nudges we get.  It may be total coincidence but it’s more fun for me to believe that the obvious bond between Brad and Mary Beth was given a red star of approval on that fortunate day.

Thanks you guys, for a fun session in St. Jacobs, for trekking over the soft ground in thin heels (not you Brad!), lying on the ground and staying out when it got chilly.  I was so pleased to experience your relaxed attitude and sense of humour.  You remind me of good natured kids, so I can see where Ethan gets that from.
